Mothers of some of the more than 100,000 missing people in Mexico march on Mother's Day. They marched from the Plaza de la independencia to gather on the Reforma avenue (Paseo de la Reforma). Disappearances have soared in Mexico since 2006, when the government declared war on drug trafficking groups. Some 480,000 people have been killed in a spiral of violence since then. IMAGES

Aerial footage shows the aftermath of a deadly landslide near the Colombian city of Medellin, where heavy rains caused a ravine to flood, killing at least eight people and injuring five.
