Major fire at the police detonation site in Berlin-Grunewald - Bundeswehr supports emergency services

Large-scale operation for the Berlin fire brigade. At 3:24 a.m., the Berlin fire brigade was notified of a fire in Grunewald near the explosive site of the Berlin Police Forensic Institute on the A 115 “AVUS” between the Hüttenweg and Spanish Allee junctions. The forces that arrived first confirmed the fire and informed that there were explosions in the area of ​​​​the blasting site due to the ammunition-loaded area. The forces then sounded an extensive alarm and withdrew from the immediate danger area in order to avoid endangering themselves. The fire brigade was alerted at 6:15 a.m. and manned by off-duty members of the professional fire brigade and the volunteer fire brigade. The Berlin fire brigade is currently on site with around 140 people. At 07:10 approximately 15,000 m² of the forest area around the blasting site was affected by the fire.
