Prof. Grabowski (Harvard): That's the future of long-term care

Source: CNN Greece (Glomex)

Speaking to CNN Greece and to journalist Christos Gavalas and in light of the ageing population globally, Harvard Medical School professor David Grabowski says he is in favor of a model that will take care of people at home but also and in long-term care facilities that are resident-directed. "We have to re-imagine what a long-term care structure should be like, in order to move from these huge structures with 100-120 beds to smaller home models. I am thinking of a long-term care structure for 8-12 people, which looks much more like a house, oriented to the residents who live there, in fact it would be like their home", he said, a few weeks after published EU studies showed that in 2070 in Greece, one in three people will be at least 65 years old.
