"Small on the outside. Big on the inside." 50 years ago, the Volkswagen brand used this slogan to advertise its then-newest product: the Polo. When the small car was launched in early May 1975, no one could have guessed that the extremely compact two-door would become a bestseller – nationally and internationally, spanning five decades, across six generations, with several prestigious awards, over 20 million units sold, and as a pioneer in the small car segment.
