Future brought to series - new BMW X2 rolls off the assembly line for the first time in Regensburg

A few weeks ago, the first photos went around the world. Now it rolls off the assembly line at the BMW Group plant in Regensburg - the new BMW X2. In Regensburg, various drive forms of the vehicle are now being flexibly produced on a single production line - models with combustion engines as well as fully electrically powered vehicles. Currently, up to 1,000 vehicles of the BMW 1 Series, BMW X1, and BMW X2 models are produced per working day at the BMW Group plant in Regensburg. They are delivered to customers worldwide. The Regensburg production specialists have done everything in recent months to seamlessly integrate the new BMW X2 into series production - from initial prototypes and pre-series to extensive quality checks and comprehensive qualification measures for the entire production team. By the end of the year, the BMW Group will permanently hire around 500 new employees at the Regensburg site and invest over 350 million euros in vehicle production. Lean, green, digital: With the BMW iFACTORY, the BMW Group is setting new standards at the Regensburg site and redefining the future of automotive production. For example, as the first plant in the automotive industry worldwide, the BMW Group plant in Regensburg relies on a consistently digitized and automated process for inspecting, processing, and marking painted vehicle surfaces using AI (Artificial Intelligence)-controlled robots in series production. This further advances the Upper Palatinate plant towards a digital and intelligently networked factory.
