Mudslides have caused devastation in the Peruvian Andes in recent days. The ancient city of Machu Picchu and neighbouring communities have been cut off from the outside world. Two people are believed to be missing. The only train connection to the area has been cancelled.

A series of earthquakes shook eastern Taiwan again on Tuesday night. The strongest of the more than 200 quakes was measured at 6.3. There have been no reports of injuries or damage so far.
