“Diddy” faces a wave of civil lawsuits while awaiting his conviction

Sean “Diddy” Combs was acquitted of the most serious charges against him but still faces a growing number of civil lawsuits alleging assault and abuse. Combs' criminal trial was followed by a civil lawsuit in 2023 from his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, who accused Combs of rape and abuse. Combs denied the allegations but settled the lawsuit within just 24 hours. Ventura later stated that the settlement amount was $20 million. Ventura became the government's key witness during the trial, which ended on July 2, 2025, after two months. While he avoided a life sentence, Combs faces up to 20 years in prison if the sentences are served consecutively. Since Ventura's lawsuit, over 50 more civil lawsuits have been filed against the music mogul. The accusers include both men and women alleging rape, assault, drug use, and violence. Combs has denied all civil allegations. Combs remains incarcerated until his conviction. Each conviction carries up to 10 years in prison, but the judge may allow the sentences to run concurrently.
