Palestinians celebrate recognition of Palestinian statehood in the West Bank

Palestinians rally in Ramallah in the occupied West Bank after several European nations - including France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Malta and others - officially recognised the State of Palestine at the United Nations on Monday, piling pressure on Israel as it intensifies its war in Gaza. They joined Australia, Britain, Canada and Portugal who made the landmark -- if symbolic -- move the previous day. IMAGES
