As reported by the "Welt", Germany is apparently supporting Ukraine through the financing of modern weapon technology. Reports indicate that an initial contract has been signed to enable the construction of over 500 long-range drones of the Antonov-196 type. These drones, which can be used as kamikaze models, have a range of up to 1,200 kilometers and carry an explosive charge of around 50 kilograms. This allows for targeted attacks on less heavily protected targets such as fuel depots or storage facilities - even far behind the front line. The Ministry of Defense in Berlin did not provide specific information on the type of systems delivered upon request. Since Chancellor Merz took office, the German government has changed its approach to information on military aid and increasingly refers to security reasons for a restrained communication.
