In addition, the engineers test numerous equipment details, including the heating, the quality of the windshield ventilation and de-icing and the ESP function in snow. None of these points can be tested anywhere near as realistically in a technical center as under the extreme conditions in the Arctic Circle. On its first official drive, the A290 presented itself with the "A-Arrow" logo as camouflage on the roof and in the color Alpine Blue. The prototype was launched for the first time with the final body dimensions: 3,990 mm long, 1,820 mm wide, 1,520 mm high and a wheelbase of 2,530 mm. Also unveiled was the exclusive, flattened A290 sports steering wheel made of nappa leather and with center markings, a reminiscence of motorsport, which has always been part of Alpine's DNA. The Alpine steering wheel has three essential functions borrowed from Formula 1: The overtake button (Overtake; OV), Recharge (RCH) and the driving modes with one-touch access.
