German last year's winners Baum & Egger beaten only in the final sprint

With the 3rd stage, the first transfer stage is on the schedule. For the mountain bikers it went over 100km and 2,300 meters of altitude from Hermanus to Oak Valley. The two German last year's winners Lukas Baum and Georg Egger could fight their way back into the leading group after a creeping flat tire and then had to admit defeat only in the finish sprint by Matt Beers (RSA) and Chris Blevins (USA). Third place went to Wout Alleman from Belgium and Fabian Rabensteiner from South Tyrol. Also in the leading group, the two overall leaders Nino Schurter (SUI) and Andri Frischknecht (SUI) finished fourth, defending their yellow jersey. Their lead is now 3:12min before tomorrow's time trial. The women's race was dominated by the two overall leaders. Amy Wakefield and Candice Lill from South Africa took an unchallenged victory.
