In the new Alfa Romeo Tonale Plug-In Hybrid Q4, the tried-and-tested DNA control for selecting the driving programs becomes a symbol of efficient sportiness. The functions behind each mode have been revised in light of the vehicle's specific drive technology to further enhance efficiency and performance. Depending on the position of the DNA control, the response of the Q4 all-wheel drive system, the engines, the transmission and the electronic driver assistance systems are automatically calibrated using preset parameters. This avoids the distraction from road traffic that manual management of individual menu items might cause. The DYNAMIC mode makes full use of the vehicle's performance capabilities while tuning the steering to be particularly direct. NATURAL mode activates all-wheel drive. The interaction of the combustion engine and electric motor is controlled automatically with a focus on energy and fuel savings without sacrificing performance. In ADVANCED EFFICIENCY mode, the new Alfa Romeo Tonale Plug-In Hybrid Q4 is programmed for maximum energy efficiency in all-electric driving mode. This mode also allows entry into environmental zones where only electric driving is permitted. ADVANCED EFFICIENCY also provides two additional functions. In so-called sailing, the drive is completely decoupled when the accelerator pedal is released to allow the vehicle to continue rolling with less resistance. When driving downhill, a light press on the accelerator or brake pedal activates the electronic hill descent control (eCoasting Descent Control). The new Alfa Romeo Tonale Plug-In Hybrid Q4 then maintains a speed of a constant 50 km/h.
