The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class - comfort meets agility

The precise guidance of the front wheels on four control arms each plays a major role in the agile handling of the new E-Class. At the rear axle, a space-frame design with a five-link concept ensures good wheel guidance qualities and stable directional stability. On the front axle, the springs and dampers are combined in a single strut and are not involved in wheel guidance tasks; the suspension responds with corresponding sensitivity. The chassis subframe (front) and axle carrier (rear) decouple the chassis and body from vibrations and noise and are thus part of the sophisticated comfort concept. The mild hybrid models are equipped as standard with an AGILITY CONTROL steel spring suspension with selective damping system. Compared with the chassis of the plug-in hybrids, it is also lowered by 15 millimeters.
