The Mercedes-Benz EQB - Those who drive with foresight save electricity and extend the range

The ECO Assistant coaches the driver by advising when to take the foot off the accelerator pedal, for example because a speed limit is following, and supports with functions such as sailing and targeted control of recuperation. Navigation data, traffic sign recognition and information from the intelligent safety assistants (radar and stereo camera) are networked for this purpose. When deciding whether to sail with as little resistance as possible or rather recuperate, the ECO Assistant calculates the driving situation in advance. Examples here are dips or crests or speed limits ahead, which the system recognizes using map data. It takes into account the course of the road (curves, intersections, traffic circles, gradients), speed limits and distance to vehicles ahead in its driving recommendations and efficiency strategy. Within the system limits, the ECO Assistant regulates the thrust according to the situation as soon as the driver takes his foot off the accelerator pedal. The driver also receives a visual warning to do this: a "foot off the pedal" symbol appears in the media display (or, if available, in the head-up display). At the same time, a graphic shows the driver the reason for the recommendation (e.g. "Intersection ahead", "Slope ahead").
