The highly efficient parallel hybrid system of the new Niro Hybrid with a total output of 103.6 kW (141 hp) combines a 1.6-liter gasoline direct injection engine with a 32 kW electric motor, which enables speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour in pure electric mode. The 1.6 GDI is also used in the 134.6 kW (183 hp) plug-in variant. Its parallel hybrid system includes a 62 kW E-engine which, in conjunction with the powerful lithium-ion polymer battery (11.1 kWh), allows it to drive up to 134 kilometers per hour fast and up to 65 kilometers in pure electric mode, and even up to 84 kilometers in city traffic (in each case according to WLTP). The Niro EV impresses with both driving performance and endurance. With its 150 kW engine and 255 Nm of torque, which is available from the start as is usual with electric vehicles, it accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 7.8 seconds. The 64.8 kWh battery, which can also be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 45 minutes at an 80 kW DC charging station, ensures a range of up to 463 kilometers (combined, according to WLTP) suitable for long distances.
