Audi RS 3 Sportback and RS 3 Sedan - The ENGINE - legendary five-cylinder

Source: AutoMotoTV (Glomex)

The five-cylinder engine in the new RS 3 produces 294 kW (400 hp)23, which extends from 5,600 rpm over a broad plateau to 7,000 rpm. This means that maximum power is available 250 revolutions earlier than before and accordingly for longer. The power curve is steeper. In addition, the engineers have strengthened the angular drive and increased the torque of the 2.5 TFSI by 20 Nm to 500 Newton meters. It is available between 2,250 and 5,600 rpm. Despite the same power output as its predecessor, the five-cylinder engine has greater pulling power, especially in the low to medium engine speed ranges, and accelerates better. With Launch Control as standard, the new RS 3 sprints three tenths faster from 0 to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) - 3.8 seconds are now listed in the data table. As an option, Audi raises the electronically limited top speed from 250 km/h to 280 km/h. With the RS dynamics package plus, which includes the ceramic brake system and adaptive suspension, even 290 km/h is possible. The acceleration and top speed of the Audi RS 3 are thus the benchmark in the compact segment. A 7-speed dual-clutch transmission brings the power of the five-cylinder engine to the road - with shorter shift times and sporty gear ratios. Drivers can operate the lightning-fast shifting S tronic in automatic D and S gears or shift manually using the shift paddles on the steering wheel. The new engine control unit, together with the new, faster onboard network, realizes an intelligent interaction of quattro drive including torque splitter, dual-clutch transmission, electronic stabilization control and optional adaptive dampers.
