Following the victory of right-wing populist Geert Wilders in the parliamentary elections, the Netherlands is facing a historic shift to the right. The 60-year-old now wants to govern with his Islamophobic party and succeed outgoing Prime Minister Mark Rutte. Whether Wilders' Party for Freedom can really forge an alliance with other partners remains to be seen. Coalition negotiations are likely to be difficult. In his party manifesto, the 60-year-old calls for mosques and the Koran to be banned and advocates Nexit - the Netherlands' withdrawal from the EU.
