Head-on collision on the B 45 near Bammental - one person trapped in the car

Bammental: On the B 45 near Bammental, near the so-called Krähbuckel, a car and a van collided head-on in the night to Friday. According to police, at around 3:15 a.m. a 30-year-old van driver traveling from Mauer in the direction of Bammental crossed into the oncoming lane for reasons as yet unknown and collided there with a 30-year-old motorist coming the other way. The impact was so violent that the car was thrown into the embankment. The driver was trapped in his car and had to be rescued by the fire department. After initial emergency medical treatment, both drivers were transported to hospital with serious injuries. Until a few years ago, the S-curve at Krähbuckel was known as an accident black spot where fatal accidents had occurred time and again. The section was then "defused" by a central crash barrier. Today's accident, however, occurred directly at the end of the central crash barrier. The B45 had to be closed in both directions for almost 3 hours between the Wiesental and Mauer junctions. Both totally damaged vehicles had to be towed away. The police have stated the damage to property to be 30,000 euros.
