Her political career has taken her far beyond the borders of Bavaria. Renate Schmidt was Vice-President of the German Bundestag, State Chairwoman of the SPD in Bavaria and, last but not least, Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. The issues of "equality" and "women's rights" are particularly close to her heart. And that is precisely why we met her today for an interview on the occasion of our International Women's Day series.
