The new Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupé - the chassis

The chassis of the new CLE Coupé enables agile driving pleasure on winding roads. At the same time, it offers exceptional ride comfort on long journeys. The precise guidance of the front wheels on four control arms each plays a major role in the dynamic handling. At the rear axle, a space-frame design with a five-link concept ensures good wheel guidance qualities and stable directional stability. There is a choice of three chassis variants. Compared with the sedan series, they are lowered by 15 millimeters as standard - for a more dynamic appearance. The comfort suspension with lowering is standard. It combines superior ride comfort with sporty directness. Roll behavior, damping effect and stabilization are continuously and automatically adapted to the road surface. A sports suspension with amplitude-selective damping system is available as an option. It offers a firmer suspension and damping layout as well as sport direct steering for more direct handling and agility. During brisk cornering or quick evasive maneuvers, this sporty suspension setup is noticeable in the form of less body roll.
