The new X-Trail also features the e-4ORCE all-wheel drive system, which is specially adapted to electrified drives, for the first time. Nissan's most advanced all-wheel drive technology to date ensures reliable traction and acceleration in all conditions. The "e" in e-4ORCE refers to the electrified powertrain, while "4ORCE" refers to the physical power and energy of the vehicle and "4" to the all-wheel drive control system. The system is also used in the all-electric Ariya crossover model. Thanks to an additional 100 kW electric motor on the rear axle, the powerful system develops a total output of 157 kW (214 hp) - enabling it to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in seven seconds. Rear torque responds 10,000 times faster than with a mechanical all-wheel-drive system. In addition, the constant torque distribution and near-perfect weight distribution contribute to controlled handling and high ride comfort. The system distributes power almost directly according to the prevailing conditions, so the driver and front passenger are unaware of the measures taken to optimize traction and control. Even under seemingly favorable conditions, the system is always active. With e-4ORCE, the driver can accelerate with peace of mind and be sure that the appropriate power is distributed to the wheels virtually immediately according to the available grip.
