Protest over UK-Mauritius Chagos Islands deal takes place in London
Protesters hold a demonstration outside the UK's Royal Courts of Justice in opposition to a government deal that would see the remote Chagos Islands returned to Mauritius. The demonstration takes place following a last-minute injunction imposed on the deal by the UK High Court, which issued the block in the early hours of Thursday morning. Britain kept control of the Chagos Islands after Mauritian independence in the 1960s, but evicted thousands of residents who have since launched a series of legal claims for compensation. IMAGES
