EU arms crisis: Insufficient deliveries to Ukraine

In the midst of the Ukraine conflict, the EU is facing an arms challenge: the promised arms deliveries to Ukraine could fail. Despite intense fighting and an urgent need, all indications are that the EU will not be able to keep its promise to deliver one million artillery shells. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba sees the problem not in political will, but in the weakness of the EU arms industry. While Russia is increasing its arms production and receiving support from North Korea, the EU is struggling with production bottlenecks and bureaucratic hurdles. Even EU chief diplomat Borrell is considering coercive measures to channel the urgently needed ammunition to Ukraine.
