Serious rear-end collision at the Walldorf interchange - rescue helicopter in action

BAB 6 / Walldorf (ots) On Thursday evening shortly after 6 p.m., a #traffic accident occurred on the #BAB6 in the direction of Mannheim, directly at the height of the Walldorf interchange, in which three people were slightly injured. The 69-year-old driver and his 80-year-old female passenger were driving their Ford Kuga on the BAB 6 in the direction of Mannheim. At the Walldorf intersection, the 69-year-old was about to enter the parallel lane in the direction of the BAB 5/Karlsruhe when he overlooked the car braking to a standstill in front of him due to traffic. As a result, there was a rear-end collision with a Mercedes Benz Vito of a 57-year-old woman. As a result of the impact, the Vito was pushed onto the crash barriers rising in this area and came to a standstill there at an angle. The Ford Kuga then left the road to the right and overturned onto its driver's side. With the help of first responders, all those involved were able to leave their cars. The two people in the Ford Kuga and the driver of the Vito were both slightly injured in the accident. The passenger in the Mercedes was uninjured. Both vehicles were no longer roadworthy after the accident and had to be towed away. The total damage amounts to approximately 20,000 euros. The parallel carriageway had to be partially closed for the duration of the accident. Accordingly, there was congestion in this area.
