The Audi activesphere concept - Robust elegance - the exterior design

Its dimensions classify the Audi activesphere concept as a representative of the upscale segment - 4.98 meters long, 2.07 meters wide and 1.60 meters high. The wheelbase - typical for an electric car - is generous at 2.97 meters and provides passengers with maximum legroom in the interior. The front and rear overhangs are correspondingly short and emphasize a much more compact impression than the mere figures indicate. From all perspectives, the Audi activesphere concept appears monolithic, as if cast from a single mold. Large 22-inch wheels and the striking ground clearance, a flat cabin typical of Audi and the dynamic roof arch define the significantly sporty proportions. The 285/55 tires are voluminous enough for off-road use and their contoured tread underline the activesphere's talent for off-road use. The wheels contain movable segments: They open during off-road use for optimum ventilation and close onroad for optimum aerodynamics. The attractive and delicate camera mirrors on the two front doors are also designed to minimize air resistance. The absence of hard edges in the body ensures smooth transitions between convex and concave surfaces and soft shadows. The rear wheel arches in the side and rear view are accentuated horizontally - they visualize the dynamic potential of the concept car. Glass surfaces make up a significant part of the vehicle body - and by no means only at head height. In the front area of the activesphere, the brand face, the single frame, is designed as transparent glazing, allowing passengers an unobstructed view of the road through the wide open front area.
