The new Renault Austral - Economical turbo gasoline engine with micro-hybrid technology

As additional engine options, Renault offers the gasoline engines TCe 140 EDC and TCe 160 EDC with micro-hybrid technology in the Austral. Here, a starter generator and a 12-volt lithium-ion battery assist a 1.3-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine during starting and acceleration and provide more efficient recuperation during deceleration. Micro-hybrid technology features an improved start-stop function and includes the "Sailing Stop" function on X-TRONIC models. This assists with energy recovery during braking and - in conjunction with automatic transmission - switches off the engine during deceleration. The engine is coupled with the X-TRONIC automatic transmission. A manual shift box is alternatively available for the 140 hp version.
