At the top of the powertrain portfolio is a new 4.4-liter V8 gasoline engine for the top model BMW X7 M60i xDrive, derived from the engines of BMW M GmbH's high-performance models. M TwinPower Turbo technology and a cross-cylinder bank exhaust manifold help the 390 kW/530 hp engine, whose maximum torque is 750 Nm, to deliver impressively commanding power. An inline six-cylinder engine of the latest generation makes its debut in the new BMW X7 xDrive40i. It features numerous innovations in the areas of combustion process, charge exchange, valve control, injection and ignition system that increase both performance and efficiency. Compared to the predecessor model, the new powertrain generates a 35 kW/47 hp increase in maximum output to 280 kW/380 hp and a 70 Nm increase in maximum torque to 520 Nm, which can be boosted to up to 540 Nm by the additional power of the mild hybrid system. Detailed further development also optimizes the fuel consumption and emissions performance of the straight six-cylinder diesel engine used in the new BMW X7 xDrive40d. The maximum output of its drive system 259 kW/352 hp. The rated torque of the diesel engine is 700 Nm and can rise to up to 720 Nm with the additional power of the mild hybrid system.
