HSV plays third-league side Rot-Weiss Essen in the DFB Cup this weekend. The last time HSV won the cup against them was 3:0, but that was 15 years ago and HSV was still the dinosaur in the 1st Bundesliga at the time. But even today, the second-division team from Hamburg is the favorite.
