For the Süderstraße animal shelter, it is currently the sad peak season, as most abandoned animals arrive in the summer months. The Hamburg animal shelter had to take in over 100 cats in the past six weeks. For example, two tomcats were supposed to be disposed of in the trash on St. Pauli, they are now in quarantine. But exotic animals are also abandoned: A corn snake was recently picked up by the police in Harburg. And Otis is a land turtle that was found in very poor condition in Othmarschen at the beginning of July.
