With its wide range of modern driver assistance systems, the revised Picanto is one of the safest vehicles in its class. The standard front collision warning system now detects bicycles in addition to pedestrians, and from the Spirit version onwards, it includes the new turning function that prevents collisions with oncoming vehicles when turning left. The active blind spot assistant uses radar to detect approaching vehicles in the rear blind spots and automatically intervenes with steering and braking assistance when changing lanes if necessary. The rear cross-traffic warning system also intervenes actively if it detects a crossing vehicle when reversing out of driveways or parking spaces perpendicular to the road (both systems standard from Spirit).
