Not every driver can charge privately or professionally. But even in these cases, Volkswagen offers the option of using electric energy with the Passat eTSI: Electricity through the conversion of kinetic energy - the braking or recuperation power. This is made possible by the new mild hybrid drive in the Passat. As with the new plug-in hybrid models (eHybrid), the 1.5 TSI evo2 forms the technical center of the drive. The eTSI is coupled to a 48V lithium-ion battery and a 48V belt starter generator, which provides 14 kW of power and 56 Nm of torque. On the one hand, the 48-volt system acts as a kind of electric booster and therefore offers very good starting performance. At the same time, the technology allows the 1.5 TSI evo2 to be switched off completely, enabling so-called coasting and temporary electric driving. The result: up to 0.5 l/100 km less fuel consumption.
