Audi SQ8 – 8-cylinder TFSI engine with cylinder on demand (COD) and sport exhaust system

The SQ8 TFSI relies on the established 4.0 TFSI with 373 kW (507 hp) and 770 Newton meters of torque with fast-shifting 8-speed tiptronic and permanent all-wheel drive quattro. At low to medium load and speed, the cylinder on demand system deactivates cylinders 2, 3, 5, and 8 in the higher gears. The switchover takes only milliseconds and is practically imperceptible. For the sporty sound, a switchable flap is located in each tailpipe of the exhaust system, modulating the sound according to load and speed.
