The new BMW M2 - 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic as standard, 6-speed manual transmission optional

As standard, the driving torque is transmitted to the rear wheels via an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic. Its particularly high shifting dynamics, its direct connection to the engine, and the ability to perform multiple downshifts to the lowest drivable gear provide ideal conditions for fascinatingly spontaneous acceleration maneuvers. Operation is via a gear selector switch in the current M design and shift paddles on the steering wheel. The Drivelogic offers three shift programs to choose from. For a performance experience in the classic style with particularly intense interaction between driver and vehicle, a 6-speed manual transmission is optionally available. It supports a sporty driving style not only with precisely defined shift gates but also with a shift assistant, whose engagement speed control ensures slip-free engagement after downshifting when braking before corners. If required, the shift assistant can be deactivated in the M Setup menu. With the 8-speed M Steptronic transmission, the new BMW M2 completes the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, while with the 6-speed manual transmission, the corresponding value is 4.3 seconds. The acceleration from zero to 200 km/h is possible in 13.5 seconds (automatic transmission) or 14.3 seconds (manual transmission). The limit for the top speed of the new BMW M2 can be increased from 250 to 285 km/h by choosing the optional M Driver’s Package.
