The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class - the interior design

The instrument panel shapes the digital experience in the interior. If the E-Class is equipped with the optional front passenger screen, the large glass surface of the MBUX superscreen extends to the central display. Visually detached from this is the high-resolution instrument cluster display in the driver's field of vision. The contour of the cover glass is dynamically designed. For the central display, the glass surface is extended downward accordingly. The profile becomes flat towards the outside. A narrow band of nozzles nestles against the upper contour of the glass surface. It connects the central nozzle with the outer nozzles to form a single unit. The models without passenger display have a large trim piece that extends to the center. Visually detached, the central display appears to float above the concave surface of this trim piece. The light band of the active ambient lighting runs through the front area of the instrument panel. It leads in a large arc from the windshield past the A-pillars into the doors. This creates a spacious feeling as the door panels merge with the collar of the instrument panel to form a single unit. A seemingly floating control island in the upper area of the door panels matches the look of the glass surfaces of the screens.
