Progress and efficiency in new diversity - Additional drive variants and innovations for the new BMW 7 Series

More than ever, the number 7 stands for driving pleasure, travel comfort and advanced technology. Just a few months after the world premiere of the all-electric BMW i7, the drive portfolio of the new BMW 7 Series will be expanded to include additional engine options in November 2022. Two plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models, including the first BMW M automobile in the new BMW 7 Series, will be launched at the same time in numerous automotive markets around the world, delighting with the combined power of an inline six-cylinder gasoline engine and an advanced electric drive system. Consistent electrification also optimizes the efficiency of the new BMW 740d xDrive available on European markets, whose inline six-cylinder diesel engine is supported by state-of-the-art 48-volt mild hybrid technology. With the increased diversity in the drive portfolio, driving dynamics, progressive luxury and feel-good ambience can be experienced in a variety that is unique in the competitive environment. It is the result of a newly developed flexible vehicle architecture for the BMW 7 Series and an expression of a globally aligned supply structure with a model program specific to each market. In this way, the BMW Group takes into account individual customer needs, infrastructure conditions and legal regulations in the various regions of the world.
