The 296 GTS, the latest evolution of Maranello's two-seat Berlinetta- Spider concept with rear-mid engine, has been unveiled. Like the 296 GTB, it redefines the idea of driving pleasure and guarantees pure emotion, not only when driven to its limits, but also in everyday driving situations. Like the 296 GTB, the 296 GTS is equipped with the new 120° V6 engine with 663 hp combined with an electric motor capable of delivering a further 122 kW (167 hp). This is the first 6-cylinder engine in a Cavallino Rampante road sports car: it puts a massive total output of 830 hp on the road, delivering previously unthinkable performance figures and an innovative, intoxicating and unique soundtrack. In the best Ferrari tradition, the car's name combines the total displacement (2,992 liters) and the number of cylinders with the abbreviation GTS (Gran Turismo Spider) to underline the epoch-making significance of this new engine for Maranello. It is not only the living, beating heart of the 296 GTS, but also heralds a new V6 era that has its roots deep in Ferrari's, over 75-year history.
