The R8 V10 performance RWD is created - predominantly by hand - in the "Böllinger Höfe" sports car production facility in Heilbronn, not far from Neckarsulm, the second Audi site in Germany. The Audi R8 has been manufactured here since 2014, and in 2019 the manufactory was expanded and upgraded and retrofitted for the integration of the Audi e-tron GT. The two most powerful and fastest Audi production models of all time are now being built here. "The production of two technically so different vehicles on one assembly line is unique throughout the Group," says Production Manager Wolfgang Schanz. "With the integration of the all-electric 4-door coupe, our small-series production at Audi Böllinger Höfe has transformed into highly flexible high-tech production that nevertheless retains its manufactory character." The LMS GT4 race car, which is directly derived from the production model with around 60 percent identical parts, is also built at the site. Up to 1,000 highly qualified employees work in sports car production on around 40,000 square meters of production space. Björn Friedrich, Project Manager of the Audi R8: "Due to the flexibility of the Böllinger Höfe, the preparations for the production of the R8 V10 performance RWD were very straightforward. Together with the team from small series production, we were able to integrate the new R8 derivative into the processes without any problems."
