Hat trick in the renowned Euro NCAP safety test: the new Volkswagen models ID.5, Polo and Taigo each received the best possible rating of five out of a possible five stars. The examiners judged the fully electrically powered electric SUV coupe and the two new small cars with combustion engines to be excellent in all four criteria examined - in terms of protection for adult occupants, children and vulnerable road users, as well as in relation to standard assistance systems. The three Volkswagen models did particularly well in the “Adult occupant protection” category. Here, the all-electric ID.5 scored 93 percent of the possible rating points, while the Polo and Taigo even got 94 percent. The evaluation is based, among other things, on frontal, side impact and whiplash tests. The outstanding result for the ID.5 was determined on the basis of the crash tests and an assessment of the measures for the fastest possible rescue and recovery. Another important safety feature is the center airbag for the front seats, which is on board all three tested Volkswagen models. In the event of a side collision, this can help to prevent or at least reduce possible head contact between the people in the first row of seats
