The new Ford Focus - The driver assistance systems

The current Ford Focus generation already boasted a remarkably extensive list of safety and driver assistance systems when it debuted in 2018. Now, some new functions have been added, and existing ones have been expanded once again. - This applies, for example, to Blind Spot Assist with CrossTraffic Alert including an emergency braking function when reversing out of a parking space. At speeds between 65 and 200 km/h, the system scans the area next to and up to 28 meters behind the driver's own car 20 times per second, which the driver can barely see or can only see with difficulty. If there are other road users there or if they are approaching, the system issues appropriate warning signals. A new feature is that the blind spot assistant can now also actively counteract by steering intervention if there is a risk of collision when changing lanes. - Another new feature is the addition of a "trailer detection" function for Ford Focus models with a trailer coupling. If the car hooks up a caravan, for example, the driver can enter the length of the tow using the Ford SYNC 4 system's touchscreen, and Blind Spot Assist expands its sensor range accordingly. - Local Hazard Information warns of a potential accident risk even in places that are not yet visible to the driver due to a curve or other visibility obstructions.
