UK wants to make borders smarter

Bron: TOURISTIKNEWS (Glomex)

England is currently announcing that it will soon be replacing passports with biometrics, i.e. facial recognition and fingerprints, in border control. In other words, they want to introduce automatic facial recognition on entry. A so-called intelligent border is to replace and simplify the procedure already used at e-gates. With a travel permit, the traveler should enter their passport and their corresponding face in advance and then no longer need to show their travel documents on entry, as the biometric data of the face is checked on site by appropriate technology on entry and entry is granted after recognition. A German technology company has been working on biometrics for several years and is planning the airport of the future. Existing biometric border controls and new concepts are also currently being developed for ports.
