The new Alpine A110 R - More downforce thanks to modified rear wing

Bron: AUTOMOTOTV (Glomex)

The rear wing of the A110 R is attached to so-called gooseneck mounts. These not only provide a sporty look but also greater aerodynamic efficiency by reducing lift on the underside of the spoiler. The shape of the wing is the same as its counterpart on the A110 S with Aero package, but it is positioned 18 millimeters further back and 46 millimeters further up. In addition, it has a lower angle of attack, which reduces drag. The bottom line is that Alpine's developers gained 29 kilograms of additional downforce at top speed at the rear of the vehicle. Drag is reduced by up to five percent in racing trim with the body lowered by ten millimeters and by two percent in road setting. As a further aerodynamic measure, special carbon fiber side skirts enlarge the underbody. The additional surface area ensures less turbulence along the entire length of the vehicle. To further calm the airflow in the area of the rear wheels and thus create additional driving stability, the sill rises just in front of the wheels. Visually, the new sills combine the front lip with the rear diffuser to create a harmonious appearance.
