Metrology at Bugatti - precision in the name of perfection

Every Bugatti hyper sports car is created with absolute perfection in mind. At the interface between production and quality control, a specialist ensures that tolerances measured in hundredths of a millimeter are maintained so that Bugatti hypercars always offer optimum performance - even at the extreme forces and speeds that make the brand so unique. Metrology is a branch of physics and deals, among other things, with the scientific basis of measurement, the correct application of measurements, and the various measuring instruments and measuring methods that are required. In his work, Grégoire uses both classic measuring tools and high-precision, modern 3D scanners with an accuracy of up to 0.005 millimeters. Using state-of-the-art and highly complex software, some of which originates from the aerospace industry, he generates precise data for analyzing the quality, grade, tolerances and dimensions of components.
