The Audi RS 3 performance edition - top suspension technologies in series production

Bron: AUTOMOTOTV (Glomex)

Negative wheel camber, stiffer control arms, RS-specific tubular stabilizer with higher spring rate - all these measures already ensure high driving dynamics and stability in the standard RS 3. In the RS 3 performance edition, the RS sports suspension with adaptive damper control is added as standard. It adapts each damper individually and permanently to the road conditions, the driving situation and the mode selected in Audi drive select. Compared with the RS 3 predecessor generation, compression and rebound damping are increased, which means that the shock absorber exhausts the forces introduced by the suspension to a greater extent. The handling is thus firmer. Electromagnetically actuated valves that regulate the flow of hydraulic fluid set the necessary damping forces exactly as required by the driving situation within 10 milliseconds. To do this, sensors measure the vertical acceleration of the body and the relative movement of the individual wheels to it. This information is processed simultaneously in the damper control unit and the modular vehicle dynamics controller to ensure that each individual wheel delivers the vehicle's performance to the road in the best possible way. This includes supporting the body during brisk cornering as well as braking and acceleration, for example with Launch Control.
