The new Passat is available at the start of pre-sales in parallel with the eTSI with a 110 kW (150 hp) strong TDI (maximum torque: 360 Nm). Two turbo petrol engines (TSI) and two more TDIs will follow. The most powerful TSI and TDI will be standardly coupled to the all-wheel drive 4MOTION. Volkswagen has developed a new centrifugal pendulum for the 4MOTION system, which neutralizes vibrations and perfects acoustic comfort. The latest 4MOTION clutch is used on the rear axle of the all-wheel drive Passat. It is characterized by intelligent energy management: for example, when operating with a trailer, the "Trailer" driving profile is automatically activated to control the power distribution between the front and rear axles optimally for trailer operation. The all-wheel drive Passat Variant is designed for large trailer loads of up to 2,200 kg. This corresponds to the high vertical load of 90 kg. If the Passat is ordered with the always semi-automatically extendable trailer hitch, the trailer maneuvering assistant "Trailer Assist" is included in the equipment. This assistance system automatically adjusts the steering angle of the trailer during reverse maneuvering with an active steering intervention. The "Trailer Assist" relieves the driver of the complicated rethinking that when reversing with a trailer, he must turn the steering wheel to the left so that the trailer turns to the right - and vice versa.
