At least 33 people have died in Thailand due to record floods, prompting authorities to deploy military ships and helicopters for relief efforts. Record floods have hit ten Thai provinces and eight Malaysian states for the second year in a row, leading both countries to evacuate nearly 45,000 people. Floods and landslides in Indonesia have claimed at least 19 lives, with seven others still buried in North Sumatra, according to the Indonesian national search and rescue agency. In Vietnam, 98 people have died in the past week and over 19,000 have been evacuated. More than 2 million people are affected in Thailand, but only 13,000 have been taken to shelters. Hat Yai in Thailand recorded 335 mm of rain in a single day - the highest in the past 300 years. The Thai military announced plans to deploy an aircraft carrier and a fleet of 14 boats with relief supplies and field kitchens. The Thai Navy stated that medical teams aboard the aircraft carrier could convert it into a 'floating hospital' if needed. The governor of Songkhla province, Ratthasart Chidchoo, reported that boats, high-performance trucks, and jet skis were used to evacuate residents. The cabinet declared the province a disaster area, releasing relief funds. However, many people remain cut off from the outside world as water levels continue to rise.
