At an annual economic forum boycotted by US President Donald Trump, Chinese President Xi Jinping assured state and government leaders in the Asia-Pacific region that his country would defend global free trade. During the opening session of the APEC summit, Jinping said, "The more turbulent the times, the more we must cooperate." "The world is experiencing rapid changes, and the international situation is becoming increasingly complex and unstable," Jinping explained. The Chinese leader also expressed hope to collaborate with other countries to expand cooperation in green industries and clean energy.
