After the deployment of the National Guard and President Donald Trump's troops in Los Angeles, protests against raids to enforce immigration laws are occurring across the USA. Last week, at least 25 rallies and demonstrations of various sizes took place nationwide, including in Chicago, Atlanta, and New York. While most demonstrations were peaceful, many resulted in clashes with the police, hundreds of arrests, and the use of tear gas to disperse crowds. Besides Los Angeles, the National Guard was also deployed in Texas. Texas Governor Greg Abbott stated he aims to 'maintain order.' 'The Texas National Guard will be deployed to locations throughout the state to ensure peace and order. Peaceful protest is legal. Person or property damage is illegal and will lead to arrest,' Abbott said in a social media post. In New York, after demonstrations in Manhattan, at least 80 people were arrested, and the police reported incidents of bottle throwing in the area. Meanwhile, California Governor Gavin Newsom sharply criticized Trump's military deployment, accusing the President of 'brazen abuse of power.' Newsom also filed an emergency order with a court to prevent the military from supporting immigration officers providing protection during arrests. Despite escalating tensions related to raids and deportations by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Trump administration stated it would continue regardless of the protests.
