Finnair is the national airline of Finland and one of the oldest airlines in the world. Founded on November 1, 1923 as Aero O/Y, it started its flight operations in March 1924 with a Junkers F 13. During World War II, they lost half of their fleet. In 1953, the airline Aero O/Y added the name Finnair to its name and since June 1968 it has been officially known as "Finnair Oyj". In 1970, long-haul flights across the Atlantic to New York City were launched, and five years later, the era of wide-body aircraft began with the introduction of the first McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30.
