Fire in Flensburg: Fire in the roof truss of a detached house

The roof truss of a detached house in the Flensburg district of Tarup (Schleswig-Holstein) burned out late on Monday evening. Around 40 firefighters battled the flames until late into the night. The occupants of the house, an elderly couple, were able to escape unharmed. The first floor is currently uninhabitable due to the extinguishing water. According to initial findings by the police, the fire broke out in the chimney of the house. The exact cause and the amount of damage are still being determined.
