Lack of lifeguards: DLRG desperately seeks reinforcements for North Sea coast

The long Whitsun weekend has led to a rush of holidaymakers to the German North Sea coast. This is a challenge for the German Lifesaving Association DLRG, because in many places there is a lack of volunteer lifeguards to ensure supervised bathing operations. Half of the bathing sites in Lower Saxony, for example, cannot be staffed. During Corona, lifeguards could not even be trained.
